What to know before you launch your self-hosted n8n instance on a VPS.
n8n Cloud bills per execution (the starter tier is capped at 2,500 executions a month) and stores your data in the United States. Self-hosted on a VPS, you get unlimited executions, all your data in France and a fixed cost from €6.99/month.
n8n in simple mode (SQLite) runs on 2 GB of RAM. For Queue Mode (Postgres + Redis + workers) we recommend 8 GB of RAM as a minimum - our Medium plan is the most popular for production. For larger teams: 16 GB (Pro).

Yes. With your dedicated IP and Nginx plus Let's Encrypt, your n8n webhooks are reachable over HTTPS on your own domain. That is a requirement for Stripe and GitHub integrations and for most modern SaaS tools.
On your OmegaCloud VPS (Telehouse Paris Magny (TH3)), all your workflow data - client identifiers, emails, API tokens - stays in France and in the European Union. Nothing is transferred to US servers.
Yes, n8n exports and imports workflows as JSON. If you are migrating from n8n Cloud or another instance, export and then import through the interface - credentials have to be reconfigured by hand for security reasons.
With cron, back up the Docker volume for /home/node/.n8n (for SQLite), or take regular Postgres dumps if you run Queue Mode. Our panel also takes full VPS snapshots in one click.
Idle between executions, n8n uses under 100 MB of RAM and almost no CPU. Consumption peaks during executions. With Queue Mode, the workers absorb occasional load without affecting the other services on the VPS.
